'Materials.jpg' is a process that constructs materials through the digital manipulation of texture maps in Photoshop. The result is a physical matter whose appearance strays from the initial photographs to reveal the layers of software protocols that mediate a digital image today. While doing this work, we're wondering: if the circulation of the image is increasingly commonplace, how does this alter quotidian environments, cultures, and contexts? After all, an image is more than a picture, and sometimes more than the thing it depicts, it takes on a new reality in of itself.

The project is ongoing, with the latest material studies of UV ink on Plexiglass were shown at Washington University in 2019. Current material studies include glazed ceramic tiles and CNC aluminum.
